Canadian Cadet Movement Marksmanship Series Championships
General Overview
The Canadian Cadet Movement Marksmanship Championship Series (CCMMCS) is a tri-service training activity designed to ensure that all cadet units have the opportunity to participate in a marksmanship competition on an equal level. It has the following aims
- To enhance the mandatory Marksmanship training at the cadet unit;
- To improve cadets’ skill level in Marksmanship;
- To encourage cadet participation in Marksmanship; and
- To assist in the identification of cadets for marksmanship and coach training
STAGE 1 LOCAL CADET UNIT SELECTION CHAMPIONSHIP
Stage 1 of the CCMMCS is the Local Cadet Unit Selection Championship. At this level, cadet units conduct their own training and competition in order to select cadet individuals or a team that will represent the unit at later stages of the series. Units are encouraged to promote maximum participation, so that all interested cadets have the opportunity to advance. Cadets selected at Stage 1 may participate at Stage 2 of the series. Unit COs are designated as the OPIs for the conduct of Stage 1, and are encouraged to refer to the CCMMCS Rule Book for the rules and match conditions for the Local Unit Selection Championship. No further instructions for the conduct of Stage 1 are given in this document. The Rule Book may be found at the following cadet web sites.

Marksmanship Championship Series
STAGE 2 ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS & ELEMENTAL MATCHES/SELECTION OF TEAMS/INDIVIDUALS FOR PROVINCIAL AIR RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Stage 2 of the CCMMCS is the Zone Championships and Elemental Matches plus the selection of Provincial Teams for stage 3. Each unit is grouped into a zone based on location. Each zone will hold a shoulder-to-shoulder competition to select a zone champion. At this level, cadet unit Air Rifle teams and individuals will compete at single day competitions against units in the same geographical area to determine zone champions. Due to geographic limitations, some units have the option of traveling to their zone shoulder-to-shoulder competition or participating by mail. Units from Labrador have been assigned as Mail-In Units only. All Mail-In Units will receive coded targets in the mail. Mail-In Unit teams and individuals will compete by mailing coded targets to a Scoring Committee, which will compile and publish the results. ANNEX A - Units NL | NS | NB & PE provides the list of units by zone.
Results from Stage 2 will determine:
(a) The top provincial unit team, open individual and junior individual;
(b) the Zone Unit Champions; and
(c) the selection of the Unit Teams and Individuals who will compete at the Provincial Air Rifle Championships.
Note: In the past, the zone champion team has been automatically selected to compete in the Stage 3 Provincial Championship. This will no longer be the case. Stage 3 selections will be based completely on team score and subject to placement within the overall provincial standings at the conclusion of Stage 2.
The OPI of Stage 2 of the CCMMCS is the Commanding Officer, Regional Cadet Support Unit (Atlantic). In Atlantic Region, the Regional Cadet Common Training Officer has been tasked with coordinating this activity. Instructions for units wishing to participate are located in the Stage 2 information
STAGE 3 PROVINCIAL CADET AIR RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIP/SELECTION OF TEAMS FOR NATIONAL CADET AIR RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Stage 3 of the CCMMCS is the Provincial Air Rifle Championship. Cadet unit teams and individuals selected at Stage 2 will compete against each other to:
(a) determine the Provincial Cadet Unit Air Rifle Championship Teams; and
(b) to select the Provincial Cadet Air Rifle Unit & Composite Teams to compete at the National Cadet Air Rifle Championships.
The Provincial Air Rifle Championships for all Atlantic Provinces are scheduled to be conducted 8 - 10 April 2011. Instructions for units that will be selected are contained in the Stage 3 information.
STAGE 4 NATIONAL CADET AIR RIFLE MARKSMANSHIP CHAMPIONSHIPS
Stage 4 of the CCMMCS is the National Cadet Air Rifle Marksmanship Championship. The National Championship for selected cadet unit teams and individuals will be held in May 2011 (dates to follow), located in Whitehorse, YT. Further instructions for teams and individuals selected for Stage 4 will be given to the applicable unit team coaches at the end of Stage 3.
